Cryptozoology is the "study of hidden animals," but it may also be defined as the study of apparent animals that are not classified
in modern Western biology.
One example is the creature reported to have flown over a road at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary,
near California State University, Irvine, in 2007. The man reporting the creature described it in terms suggesting a Rhamphorhynchoid
(long-tailed) pterosaur, like the ropen of Papua New Guinea.
