"Mormon Helping Hands" sweep at Kelly Elementary School. Volunteers also
painted walk-way lines and cleaned up around
the school. They were mostly members
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Friends of Kelly
also helped.

2004 Expeditions in Papua New Guinea
Garth Guessman, of Southern California, and David Woetzel,
of New Hampshire, left the U.S. for Papua New Guinea. . . . to explore some of the northern areas of Umboi Island. Most of the
previous explorers, who had visited this remote island to investigate reports of the large flying creature known as “ropen,” stayed
in the southern villages.
As the sun was setting for the second night, the three [natives] returned with
bad news: The villagers of Gomlongon (where we had come from) were angry with us for going off into the bush; they wanted us to return.
Worse yet, villagers of Tarawe had refused to give us permission to be where we were camped, and a couple of “armed bandits” from
Tarawe were said to be bragging that they would come up to “get us.”
